Borbonius Anthias
Borbonius Anthias
The Borbonius anthias (Pseudanthias borbonius), also known as the Red Sea Anthias or Borbonius Fairy Basslet, is a stunning and colorful marine fish belonging to the Anthiadinae subfamily. It is native to the Indian Ocean, specifically found in the Red Sea and the nearby Arabian Sea.
The Borbonius anthias displays vibrant coloration, with males exhibiting a striking blend of orange, yellow, and pink hues that intensify during courtship displays. They have a slender, elongated body typical of anthias, adorned with large, expressive eyes and a small, pointed mouth. Females and juveniles are generally less vibrant in color compared to adult males, often appearing more subdued in shades of pink and yellow.
These guys are fully reef safe for corals but watch out for smaller inhabitants either fish or invertebrates due to their big mouths.
