The copperband butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus) is a striking marine fish known for its elongated body and vibrant coloration. Its most distinctive feature is a broad copper or orange band that runs diagonally from its snout to the base of its tail, contrasting sharply against its white body. This butterflyfish has a long, pointed snout adapted for probing into crevices and holes in search of food, primarily consisting of small crustaceans, polychaete worms, and coral polyps. It typically inhabits coral reefs and lagoons in the Indo-Pacific region, where it can be found swimming alone or in pairs. Known for its shy nature, the copperband butterflyfish requires a well-established aquarium with plenty of hiding places and a varied diet to thrive in captivity.

The copperband butterfly are reef safe with caution as they can pick on sessile invertebrates such as corals, feather dusters, tubeworms, etc.  These are also great aiptasia eaters .

Currently eating on PE mysis and masstick.
